Privacy policy
Last updated: October 1, 2026
This policy explains what personal information Oakwise Press collects on oldtimepantry.com and oakwisepress.com, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.
Who we are
Oakwise Press is run by PLACEHOLDER: legal name, PLACEHOLDER: postal address. Email: hello@oakwisepress.com. Under UK and EU law, we are the "controller" of your information: the one responsible for it.
What we collect and why
- When you buy. Gumroad runs our checkout and is the seller of record. The checkout collects your name, email address and payment details. It passes us your name, email address and what you bought; we never see your full card number. We use this to answer questions about your order and to keep the records the law asks for.
- When you join the print waiting list. The form on our sales page sends us your email address, which Cloudflare, our website host, stores for us. We use it only to tell you when the printed edition is ready, and we keep it until we have done that, or until you ask us to remove it.
- When you email us. We keep your email address and what you write, so we can answer you.
- When you join our email list. We keep your email address, to send you news about our books. Every email has a link to unsubscribe. The sign-up page is run by our email service, which stores your address for us.
- When you visit our websites. Our websites are hosted by Cloudflare. Its servers record technical details of each visit, such as your IP address, your browser and the page you asked for, to deliver the pages and keep them secure. We do not use these records to find out who you are.
Cookies
Our websites do not use advertising or tracking cookies, and they do not ask for any.
When you open the checkout, Gumroad may set its own cookies inside it, which it needs for the purchase.
Our legal reasons (UK and EU)
- Sending your order and answering questions about it: to carry out our contract with you.
- Keeping order records: because tax and accounting law requires it.
- Answering your emails and keeping our websites secure: our legitimate interest in running our business.
- Our email list, the print waiting list: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
Who we share it with
Only the services named in this policy (Gumroad, our email service, Cloudflare), only for the reasons above, and anyone the law requires us to share it with. We never sell or rent your information.
- Gumroad: gumroad.com/privacy
- Cloudflare: cloudflare.com/privacypolicy
Where it is stored
These services are based in the United States and may store information there and in other countries. When information goes from the UK or the EU to another country, they use the safeguards the law requires, such as standard contract clauses.
How long we keep it
- Order records: as long as tax and accounting law requires, often six or seven years.
- Emails: as long as we need them to help you.
- Email list: until you unsubscribe.
- Print waiting list: until we have told you the printed edition is ready, or until you ask us to remove you.
Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us what information we hold about you and ask us to correct it or delete it. In the UK and the EU you can also ask for a copy, object to how we use it, ask us to limit its use, and withdraw your consent at any time. Email hello@oakwisepress.com and we will reply within one month.
If you are not happy with our answer, you can complain to a data protection authority: in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk); in the EU, the authority in your country.
Children
Our websites are for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 16.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update this page and the date at the top.
